BEVERLY HILLS, CA – Anchor Bay Films (ABF), the feature division of Anchor Bay Entertainment, has added theatrical veteran Bill Lewis to the post of Senior Vice President, Theatrical Distribution and Marketing. In this new role, Lewis will play an integral part in the continued growth of the ABF theatrical business as well as developing new distribution models for the division. Anchor Bay Entertainment President Bill Clark made today’s announcement.
“Bill has a tremendous history in the theatrical business and has been key in the release of some very high profile franchises,” commented Clark. “We extremely pleased to have an executive of Bill’s caliber and experience join our senior team.”
“I’m very excited to be working with Bill Clark and the entire Anchor Bay team,” stated Lewis. “Anchor Bay Films has created a unique distribution niche with their strategy of aggressive acquisitions and star-driven titles. With that, there are many opportunities ahead and I look forward to taking advantage of them.”
Lewis has been in the entertainment business for over 30 years. Most recently, he was the Executive Vice President and General Sales Manager at Summit Entertainment. During his time there, he guided the releases of such high profile titles as the wildly popular Twilight franchise and the Academy® Award-winning film, The Hurt Locker. Prior to Summit, Lewis spent over a decade at MGM heading the Eastern U.S. theatrical distribution efforts for such films as the award-winning film Hotel Rwanda, box office success Legally Blonde, Ridley Scott’s Hannibal and the 007 Bond franchise featuring Pierce Bronson. Additionally, he has held theatrical posts at Hemdale, Lorimar, DEG and UA Theatres.
Anchor Bay Films recently announced the pick-up of Billy Bob Thornton’s film Jayne Mansfield’s Car as well as Rob Zombie’s The Lords of Salem. Both films were acquired at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival and are currently slated for a Spring 2013 release.
