BEVERLY HILLS, CA – Anchor Bay Films announced today the acquisition of all North American distribution rights to the latest film by Amy Heckerling (Clueless, Fast Times at Ridgemont High), VAMPS. Starring Alicia Silverstone (Clueless, Batman & Robin), Krysten Ritter (“Don’t Trust the B---- in Apartment 23,” Confessions of a Shopaholic), Wallace Shawn (Toy Story, Princess Bride) and Sigourney Weaver (Aliens, Avatar), the film combines the fun of the classic hit Clueless with the tremendous popularity of vampires. A theatrical release is expected near Halloween. The deal was announced by Bill Clark, President of Anchor Bay Entertainment.

Beautiful vampires Goody (Silverstone) and Stacy (Ritter) have been enjoying the good life in New York City. When love steals into each of their lives, the pair’s destiny is set on a new course and they must make a choice that will jeopardize their immortality—and maybe much more.

Written and directed by Amy Heckerling, VAMPS is a comedy-fantasy-romance that puts a fresh and hilariously upbeat twist on the vampire genre. Film Features Chart-Topping Music Including “Young, Wild and Free”, “That Good” and “Smokin’ On”

BEVERLY HILLS, CA – Anchor Bay Films has picked up the rights to Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa’s film Mac and Devin Go To High School. The agreement includes all rights, excluding subscription VOD, for the U.S., Australia and New Zealand. Directed by Dylan Brown, Mac and Devin Go To High School follows the release of the chart-topping soundtrack of the same name which debuted back in December 2011. Additionally, the film will be supported by Snoop and Wiz at numerous upcoming tour dates. Today’s deal was announced by Bill Clark, President of Anchor Bay Entertainment.

“We’re extremely excited to be working with Snoop and Wiz,” stated Clark. “Their new album has done extremely well and we’re happy they chose Anchor Bay Films to release Mac and Devin.”

The Day was one of the most buzzed-about films at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival’s Midnight Madness section. The film stars a stunning cast that includes Shawn Ashmore (The X-Men trilogy), Dominic Monaghan (“Lost” and The Lord of the Rings) Shannyn Sossamon (A Knight’s Tale, 40 Days and 40 Nights) and Ashley Bell (The Last Exorcism).

Set in the same universe as the 1973 cult classic The Wicker Man starring Christopher Lee and Edward Woodward, the film is written and directed by the original helmer, Robin Hardy, who also reunited with the original producer Peter Snell and venerable UK production company British Lion to bring a chilling new vision of this classic story to 21^st century audiences, after a theatrical run. Based on Hardy’s acclaimed 2006 novel “Cowboys for Christ,” The Wicker Tree tells the story of Texas-based singer Beth Boothby (newcomer Brittania Nicol) and her friend Steve Thomson (Henry Garrett, “The Bill,” “Skins”), two born-again Christians who come to Scotland to spread the gospel. When their initial efforts are met with disdain and disinterest, they find comfort in an invitation to sing in Tressock, the border fiefdom owned by Sir Lachlan Morrison (Graham McTavish, Rambo, the upcoming The Hobbit films).

However, Beth’s and Steve’s message of personal chastity quickly comes into direct conflict with Tressock’s sexual and religious practices, drawing upon ancient Celtic beliefs and rituals. Temptations begin to challenge Beth and Steve – with the stakes no less than their very lives and souls...

BEVERLY HILLS, CA – Anchor Bay Films announced today the acquisition of all North American distribution rights to director/writer Richard Bates, Jr.’s debut feature film, EXCISION, which made its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival last month. Produced by Dylan Hale Lewis, the horror film features an all-star cast including: AnnaLynne McCord (“90210”), Traci Lords (Cry Baby), Ariel Winter (“Modern Family”), Roger Bart (“Desperate Housewives”), Jeremy Sumpter (Soul Surfer), Malcolm McDowell, Matthew Gray Gubler (“Criminal Minds”), Academy Award^® winner Marlee Matlin (Children of a Lesser God), Ray Wise (Good Night, and Good Luck) and John Waters. The deal was announced by Bill Clark, President of Anchor Bay Entertainment.

EXCISION is the story of Pauline (McCord), a delusional teenage outcast. Pauline picks scabs. Pauline dissects road kill. Pauline fantasizes about performing surgery on strangers. Her fascinations disturb her schoolmates and her parents, Phyllis (Lords) and Bob (Bart). No one understands Pauline except for Grace (Winter), her younger sister who suffers from cystic fibrosis. An outcast at school and at home, Pauline is convinced that the best way to repair her estranged relationship with her family is to perform a risky operation to save her sister’s life. A BXR Productions film, EXCISION is Richard Bates, Jr.’s directorial debut adapted from his award-winning short film, also called Excision.

Heading Into Sundance Film Festival 2012

PARK CITY, UT – Anchor Bay Films announced today the pick up of Slasher Films’ Nothing to Fear. Slasher Films is the new horror label conceived by legendary guitar hero Slash and the producing team of Rob Eric and Academy Award^™ winning producer Michael Williams (Session 9, Transsiberian, The Fog of War). Nothing to Fear is the first film to be produced in the Slasher Films slate and is based on an actual town in Kansas, which, according to legend, is one of the seven gateways to Hell. The film will be directed by Anthony Leonardi III. Leonardi has been the lead creature artist and storyboard artist for such films as Constantine, Pirates of the Caribbean 3, Rango and the upcoming 47 Ronin. His vision and tenacity have made him one of the most talked about new directors. Slash will be co-producing the score of the movie.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA – Anchor Bay Films announced the pick-up of Maximum Conviction starring two of Hollywood hottest and powerful action icons – Steven Seagal and Steve Austin. The deal was made with Voltage Pictures and covers rights in U.S. and Canada for theatrical and home entertainment. Maximum Conviction is directed by Keoni Waxman and produced by Steven Seagal, Steve Austin and Phillip B. Goldfine. Bill Clark, President of Anchor Bay Entertainment, made today’s announcement.

“Steven Seagal and Steve Austin in one picture – you can’t ask for more action,” commented Kevin Kasha, Executive Vice President, Acquisitions and Co-Productions. “Fans won’t be able to wait for this one. We’re thrilled that Maximum Conviction will be released by Anchor Bay Films.”

Goldfine added, “We have paired two great action stars from diverse backgrounds who bring together action star-power not seen before in an all-action buddy film.”

In the tradition of explosive action films, Maximum Conviction follows Tom Steele (Seagal), a former special forces-black ops operative, who now works for a private security firm (ala Blackwater). His current assignment is to oversee the decommissioning of an old prison. Steele's highly skilled HSO team is led by his buddy, Manning (Austin). As Manning and the team await Steele to join them at a local bar to celebrate yet another successful operation, Steele is delayed by the arrival of two mysterious female prisoners, Charlotte (Aliyah O’Brien) and Samantha (Steph Song), who need to be housed in the facility for only one night. Suddenly, an elite force of mercenaries, led by another former special forces operative Blake (Michael Pare), make an assault on the prison and begin a violent search for the mysterious new prisoners. Steel and Manning team up against the mercenaries in a bloody war to protect the two female prisoners and find the truth.

In Seeking Justice, Cage stars as Will Gerard, a happily married and dedicated inner-city high school teacher. His wife, Laura (Jones) is an accomplished musician and they enjoy a comfortable life until one fateful evening shatters everything. Laura is brutally assaulted and while awaiting an update on her condition, Will is approached by a well-dressed man (Pearce) who quietly offers to dispense immediate justice. Required to make a spontaneous decision in a distraught frame of mind, he accepts the proposal and is pulled into an underground vigilante organization that leads to increasingly frightening and dangerous consequences. The film was previously entitled The Hungry Rabbit Jumps.

Though the swampland crime scenes are outside their jurisdiction, Detective Heigh is unable to turn his back on solving the gruesome murders. Despite his partner’s warnings, he sets out to investigate the crimes. Before long, the killer changes the game and begins hunting the detectives, teasing them with possible clues at the crime scenes while always remaining one step ahead. When familiar local girl Anne (Chloë Grace Moretz Hugo, Let Me In) goes missing, the detectives find themselves racing against time to catch the killer and save the young girl’s life.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA – Anchor Bay Films has announced today it has acquired the horror film Mother’s Day, directed by Saw veteran Darren Lynn Bousman and starring Rebecca DeMornay, Jamie King, Deborah Ann Woll and Shawn Ashmore. The film is a loose remake of the original Troma film of the same name directed by Charles Kaufman. The announcement, which includes rights North American rights, was made by Bill Clark, President of Anchor Bay Entertainment.

“With Saw’s Darren Lynn Bousman at the helm, and a cast featuring DeMornay, Ashmore and Woll, Mother’s Day has an unbeatable horror pedigree,” noted Kevin Kasha, Executive Vice President, Acquisitions and Co-Productions. “We’re thrilled to add this chiller to the Anchor Bay Films roster of terror classics.”

After a bank robbery gone wrong, three brothers head for home…only to discover that their mother lost the house in a foreclosure. The new owners and their guests, gathered for an ill-timed birthday party, become the brothers’ unwitting hostages. Their mother and sister arrive, and it soon becomes obvious that Mother will do absolutely anything to protect her children. In one terrifying evening, Mother brilliantly takes control of the situation and masterminds her sons’ escape. Sides will be taken, secrets revealed, and sins punished as the hostages struggle to make it through the night.

Mother’s Day is directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II – IV), produced by Brett Ratner and Richard Saperstein with Jay Stern, Brian Witten, Jessie Rusu, Curtis Leopardo and Shara Kay. It stars Rebecca DeMornay (The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, The Wedding Crashers), Jamie King (Sin City, The Spirit), Deborah Ann Woll (“True Blood”), Patrick John Flueger (“Footloose”) and Shawn Ashmore (X-Men 2, Frozen). At the center of the film is Jake (Tatum) who is waiting for the right moment to propose to his girlfriend Jess (Jenna Dewan-Tatum), when his former girlfriend (Rosario Dawson) shows up. On January 17, 2012, Katsuhito Ishii’s REDLINE and award-winner FIRST SQUAD: THE MOMENT OF TRUTH will be released on Blu-ray™ and DVD. REDLINE is a racing film created by studio Madhouse (Paprika, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars). REDLINE is about the biggest and most deadly racing tournament in the universe. Only held once every five years, everyone wants to stake their claim to fame, including JP, a reckless dare-devil driver oblivious to speed limits with his ultra-customized car - all the while, organized crime and militaristic governments want to leverage the race to their own ends. Amongst the other elite rival drivers in the tournament, JP falls for the alluring Sonoshee - but will she prove his undoing, or can a high speed romance survive a mass destruction race?

Directed by Yoshiharu Ashino, FIRST SQUAD: THE MOMENT OF TRUTH is set during the opening days of World War II on the Eastern Front. Its main cast of characters is a group of Soviet teenagers, each with extraordinary abilities. The teenagers have been drafted to form a special unit to fight the invading German army. They are opposed by a Schutzstaffel (SS) officer who is attempting to raise from the dead a supernatural army of crusaders from the 12^th Century Order of the Sacred Cross and enlist them in the Nazi cause. A colorful adaptation of the fifteenth best-selling children’s book of all time, The Littlest Angel takes us on a rousing adventure with a young, and sometimes mischievous, Angel, who must return to earth and earn his wings, a task that doesn’t prove to be easy. Experience the love, laughter and magic of one of the most popular children’s stories of all time. From the classic book by Charles Tazewell, comes this lively CGI animated version filled with both humor and heart.

The Littlest Angel tells the story of a young boy who arrives in heaven before his time. Home-sick and lonely, he will travel back to earth, with his friendly pup Halo, to retrieve a most selfless and precious gift for The Baby Jesus. First released in book form in 1946, The Littlest Angel became popular for its ornate words and phrases paired with beautifully muted oil paintings. Tazewell’s book was adapted into a TV musical in 1969 starring Johnny Whitaker, and theatrical versions continue to be done by schools and church groups today. The author would follow-up with another childhood favorite, "The Littlest Snowman," that would be read annually on the “Captain Kangaroo” show.

“This is a story that has made so many people happy over the years,” says Lance Thompson, one of the producers of the film. “We’ve added some new elements to this production, but this is still The Littlest Angel everyone remembers from their childhood, and one that parents will enjoy introducing to their kids. Anchor Bay Films announces the acquisition of the much-anticipated follow-up The Wicker Tree. The film reunites producer Peter Snell with the original helmer, Robin Hardy. Directed by Hardy, based on his acclaimed novel “Cowboys for Christ,” and produced by venerable UK company British Lion (who also produced the original), The Wicker Tree will be released theatrically in early 2012, Anchor Bay Entertainment President Bill Clark announced today. Anchor Bay Films has acquired all rights in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. to The Wicker Tree.

“The original Wicker Man set a standard for literate horror cinema that is still unsurpassed,” said Clark. “Now, with The Wicker Tree, we’re thrilled to present the follow up of this haunting tale to a new generation.”

The Wicker Tree tells the story of singer Beth (newcomer Brittania Nicol) and her cowboy friend Steve (Henry Garrett, “The Bill,” “Skins”), two virginal Texans who come to Scotland to spread the gospel. These two innocents don’t know what they’re getting into as they find themselves trying to spread their chastity message at the estate owned by Sir Lachlan Morrison (Graham McTavish, Rambo, the upcoming The Hobbit films), who has revived ancient local religious practices when an accident at the nuclear power plant he runs rendered the area men infertile. The Wicker Tree was produced by Peter Snell and Peter Watson-Wood and executive produced by Alistair Gourlay.

Lee, who played the mysterious Lord Summerisle in the original (in a career that includes Count Dracula and the Frankenstein monster in the classic Hammer films, Count Dooku in Star Wars Episodes II & III, and Saruman in the Lord of the Rings trilogy as well as the upcoming pair of films based on The Hobbit), returns again in a dramatic cameo as the “Old Man.” Rounding out the cast are Jacqueline Leonard (“Holby City,” “The Bill”) as Lady Delila Morrison, Clive Russell (Sherlock Holmes, The 13^th Warrior) as Beame and Honeysuckle Weeks (“Foyle’s War” and numerous other UK TV projects) as Lolly.

British Lion Films has long been one of the UK’s premier independent studios, with such titles as The Entertainer, Lord of the Flies, Don’t Look Now, The Third Man and The Wicker Man among its credits. Monroe, 2010’s I Spit On Your Grave tells the story of Jennifer Hills (Sarah Butler), a city girl who rents an isolated cabin in the country to write her latest novel. On one terrifying evening, a group of local lowlifes break into the cabin, overpower and assault Jennifer, ultimately leaving her for dead. But Jennifer miraculously survives her ordeal; consumed with hell-borne vengeance for those who so violated her, she repays their heinous acts in gruesome ways that these lowlifes never thought imaginable. The cast includes Jeff Branson (“The Young and the Restless”), Daniel Franzese (Mean Girls, Bully), Rodney Eastman (A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 & 4), Chad Lindberg (“Supernatural,” The Fast and the Furious), Tracey Walter (Erin Brockovich, Batman, Repo Man) and Andrew Howard (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen). Solet accepted the award during the ceremony, held at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. 'Brooklyn's Finest' Dominates Video Charts

Independent Anchor Bay Entertainment scored a rare triple win on the national home video charts the week ending July 11, with "Brooklyn's Finest," a cop drama from Overture Films that grossed just $27.2 million at the boxoffice.

The film, with a cast that includes Richard Gere, Wesley Snipes and Ethan Hawke, bumped the previous week's triple-winner, 20th Century Fox's "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief," to No. 2 on all three charts.

"Brooklyn's Finest" won its most decisive victory on Blu-Ray Disc, even though just 25% of total unit sales were generated from the high-definition format. Nielsen data shows "Percy Jackson" sold just 70% as many Blu-ray Discs as "Brooklyn's Finest" during the week.

In overall disc sales, "Percy Jackson" sold 77% as many discs its second week in stores as "Brooklyn's Finest" -- on par with the two titles' relative rental performance, according to Home Media Magazine's rental chart.

Several new releases also fared well with consumers. "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," from Music Box Home Entertainment, debuted at No. 4 on First Alert, right beyond Fox/MGM's "Hot Tub Time Machine," which slipped to No. 3 from No. 2 its second week in stores -- again, on all three charts.

DVD Titles" for the week ending July 11, 2010 is "Brooklyn's Finest." An American crime film starring
Golden Globe® winner Richard Gere, Oscar® nominees Don Cheadle and Ethan Hawke, and Wesley
Snipes, Brooklyn's Finest follows three New York police officers throughout the course of a week on the
job. Gere plays Eddie, a disenchanted veteran cop days away from retirement. Cheadle portrays an
